Scams exist every where, not just on the internet. You may be very level headed and think you are unlikely to fall for money making scams but unfortunately they come in many forms, and lurk everywhere.
Types of Scams
A scam is something that is set up to defraud you. It can be to get your personal information, or it can be to sell you something that is not as described.
Credit card fraud
Spoof emails claiming to be from official companies
False auctions
One scam that is hard to pin down as being an actual scam, is get rich quick opportunities. They are hard to class as scams because, the webmaster is very careful in the way they describe the opportunity. The only person likely to get rich from it, is the webmaster themselves.
To avoid any get rich quick scam, always remember, "if something seems to good to be true, it usually is".
I am not saying that all money making opportunities are scams, far from it, all I will say is that to get rich or make a decent amount of money online, takes time.
How will I know if a make money online opportunity is legitimate?
Use Google and forums to check out if anyone has reviewed them.
In my opinion, the only real way to make money online, is to find a niche and be the best at it. If you want to get involved with an existing opportunity, then use sites that offer advice on making money for free, or free resource sites that give independent advice.
